About the project

Speech recognition for children's voices is one of the hardest problems in the field — kids repeat, mumble, self-correct and trail off. For Odia, the technology is only as good as the humans who transcribe those recordings faithfully.

That's this project. You'll listen to children reading aloud in Odia, transcribe exactly what was said — every repetition and disfluency included — add timestamps where required, and apply annotation labels for silence, noise, fillers, mumbling and adult voices. The dataset trains and evaluates ASR models for children's reading assessment.

What you'll do

Listen to assigned Odia audio recordings of children reading
Transcribe speech exactly as spoken, in Odia script
Capture repetitions, disfluencies and false starts faithfully
Add timestamps and annotation labels (Silence, Noise, Fillers, Mumbling, Adult Voice) per the guidelines
Submit accurate, quality-checked work on schedule

Native or fluent Odia speakers who read and write Odia fluently
Careful listeners with real attention to detail
People comfortable with "verbatim means verbatim" — you write what was said, not what should have been said
