About the project

Face-recognition and vision AI has a known problem: it works best on the faces it saw most during training. Fixing that takes deliberately diverse data — real people, in real lighting, across dozens of countries.

This is one of the largest collections on our platform, running across 32 countries including India, the USA, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore, the UAE, South Africa and Australia. Participation is simple: record four short guided selfie videos — indoor and outdoor, neutral and non-neutral expressions — on a supported device, following the framing guidelines. Every submission is quality-checked, and approved submissions are paid.
